As part of the Carry the Clouds Away exhibition programme, the Art Collection are thrilled to announce the next New Adelphi Exhibition Gallery photography and creative writing open call!
We can experience natural landscapes or green spaces in many different ways; for improving our health and well-being, explore nature and document biodiversity, and also to find connection between people, place and sense of community.
This year is Peel Park’s 180th Birthday – the perfect time to celebrate green spaces and their place within Salford. Did you know a third of Salford is made up of green spaces? Which of these spaces is your favourite?
Share with us your own works that centre on these spaces and their impact in your own life or across the Salford community. Your images or creative writing should examine the impact of bringing nature into our city through these green spaces.
Selected works will be featured in Carry the Clouds Away on our Gallery’s digital screen. There will be one prize winner – the creator of the winning work will receive a £30 Fred Aldous voucher.

Deadline: 9am on 26th October 2026
Entry eligibility: The open call is eligible for the public, staff and students; everyone is encouraged to apply!
Existing or new works can be submitted.

Please note we are only accepting submissions with 1 image or 1 written piece.
By submitting you agree to the terms listed on this page.
Include:
1) Your name
2) Confirm are you: Student, alumni, staff, public?
3) One sentence about your image or written piece
4) Image title, date, medium
5) Your Instagram/webpage if applicable
6) Do you wish to enter the prize draw?
7) Your Submission:
- Image submissions should be linked to in your email
- Photographs must be taken in Salford.
*Please do NOT send images as attachments. Please use a file upload or sharing service such as OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive. Ensure the recipient email has access, and that the link is not time limited.
- Written submissions can be included via attachment or in email body (unless they are scans of handwritten text in which case submit via link like above)
Terms:
Eligibility: This call is open to all! General public can submit alongside staff and students. Please only send one submission per person.
Formats:
Image: Submit a digital file produced in any format, e.g. analogue, digital, smartphone, etc. Send in 300dpi resolution if possible. Please only submit one image.
Written: Please send written submissions in either a Word Document, PDF or in the body text of an email. If handwritten or made in any physical formats, please scan at 300dpi resolution and attach via link to a file sharing service.
We ask if submitting a written piece, please submit no more than 250 words maximum, these may be taken from larger text pieces.
Types of written pieces accepted: Poetry, free writing, memoirs, essay style, storytelling
Copyright: By submitting you agree that you are the author/creator and copyright holder of the image. You will retain all authorship and copyright. You agree to image use by the University of Salford Art Collection, in digital and print forms, for display / exhibition / publication purposes.
