Spring/Summer 2020: Micro-commission opportunity

Calling all artists living, working or with a strong connection to Salford
Deadline: Midnight 10th May 2020

We are inviting artists to propose ideas for new content in response to our Collection and to be presented on our website.
There is a fee of £200 per commission (based on AN rates for 1 day freelance work).

We are looking for new work, that might be in written, video, photographic or visual form that adds context to work in our Collection. This might be a reflection on an artwork you or connection you already have with the Collection, or it could be a new interpretation, discussion or response to an artwork or theme you admire – we are looking for original ideas and are open to suggestions.

About us:
The University of Salford Art Collection has existed for over 50 years, and includes over 700 works. We take an ambitious approach to collecting, and work closely with artists at all stages of their careers to commission new work. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, and we regularly work with industry partners across the North West, nationally, and internationally.

Since 2013 we have commissioned and acquired artwork under three key strands:
About the Digital;
From the North;
Chinese Contemporary Art.
Other areas of our collection include: work by our Graduate Scholars; the Albert Adams archive; modern & contemporary prints, & public sculpture
Our website is currently under development, but you can find information about all of our collecting strands and recent work. You can also visit this page for details of previous work, including exhibition catalogues and other resources.
