We are delighted to introduce our second public presentation of OFFSHOOT: Artists in Residence at RHS Garden Bridgewater. This exhibition encourages visitors to explore the gardens in new ways – with three OFFSHOOT artists, and members of the community, displaying art work in a variety of locations.
Yan Wang Preston is a multi-award-winning visual artist and photographer passionate about the natural world and our place within it. Yan is sharing new bodies of work inspired by the garden and the work of the RHS. The Perfect Flower is an exploration of the hydrangea and the RHS trials process. Goose Poo and Rainbow reframes objects found on the site, beautifully photographed and reinstalled in Middle Wood.
Fiona Robinson and Anoosh Ariamehr are Socially Engaged Photographers, who have been resident in RHS Bridgewater’s Community Wellbeing and Community Grow gardens. The artwork they have co-created with different communities deepens our understanding of both the impact of these spaces, and the importance of how individuals from all walks of life connect with gardens and gardening. Fiona is a graduate and Anoosh is a student on our Socialy Engaged Arts Practice MA.
There will be further presentations of new work at Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool in June and at Salford Museum and Art Gallery from October.
Access to the exhibition is included the tickets purchased for admission to the RHS Garden Bridgewater – tickets can be booked via the RHS website here.
For Salford residents, access to the gardens is free on Tuesdays! – book here.
We strongly encourage use of public transport – there is discounted admission for those who attend the gardens via public transport.
Access
- There are accessible pathways across most areas of the garden. Pathways in the Weston Walled Garden and those leading to Ellesmere Lake are suitable for pushchairs, manual wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
- Paths in the Lower Middle Wood are hard-core (not a smooth surface) and are not suitable for push wheelchairs.
- Wheelchair hire – eight manual wheelchairs and nine mobility scooters are available at the garden entrance for ‘on-the-day’ use. Please book your wheelchair or mobility scooter in advance of booking a garden time slot to ensure availability.
- Accessible unisex WCs and family change facilities are located in the Welcome Building, at Garden Cottage and at the Potting Sheds.
- Larger print maps of the garden are available at reception.
- There are benches sited around the garden at regular intervals, including six accessible picnic benches in the Trials area.
For more detailed information on accessibility visit the RHS website here.
