Access & Inclusion

We’re committed to supporting the University’s EDI (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) principles, and 2025-2030 Strategy of innovating to enrich lives.

Accessibility: As much as possible we follow Shape Arts resources and guidances to create accessible opportunities and events. Our Visit Us page includes venue accessibility information, and our Events will usually be advertised with relevant details and contact information. Our Assistant Curator holds a committee role on the University’s Access Network, to ensure latest best practice is shared.

Diversity in collections: We’re committed to developing a collection and programme that represents a diversity of lived experiences. For example, we’ve worked with expert partners such as Venture Arts and Vital Capacities to commission work by disabled artists; and since 2014 have actively shifted the balance in the collection to represent more women and non-binary artists.
