In 1988, in his second year at Goldsmiths College, Hirst conceived and curated Freeze, an exhibition in a disused warehouse. The exhibition, which ran from 6th August to 29th September 1988, in three rolling parts is commonly acknowledged to have been the launching point for a generation of British artists.  Many of the 16 artists featured were Hirst’s contemporaries at Goldsmiths.
